What is IP geolocation?
IP geolocation is the approximate physical location associated with an IP address — country, region and city. It gives a rough idea of where a device connects from.
Supported IP types
This tool supports both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses (e.g. 8.8.8.8 or 2606:4700:4700::1111), including compressed IPv6 and IPv4-mapped forms. Zone IDs (e.g. %eth0) are not valid for public lookups.
What you get
Results include the location (country, region, city), network details (ISP, ASN), timezone and postal code.
Use cases
IP geolocation is widely used for network security analysis, audience analytics, content delivery, ad targeting and fraud/risk control.
Accuracy
IP-based location is typically accurate to the city level and can be affected by proxies and network routing, so treat results as approximate.
Privacy
Lookups run at our edge against an embedded offline IP database (IP Geolocation by DB-IP); we do not call any third-party service and do not store or cache your queried IP. Only the public IP→geolocation result is returned.
